Set up in 2020 by Cagliari-based curator Francesca Sassu, Nocefresca is a permanent residency programme with the aim to develop a sustainable network for international artists and cultural practitioners in the island of Sardinia, Italy.

The programme features the rural villages of Sardinia as a space for research and experimentation, involving both participants and local communities in a cultural exchange experience.

During their stay artists are offered time and space for reflection and development with access to equipped studio spaces and support by local art professionals. Participants are invited to collaborate with one another and engage with the local community through conversations, collective activities, workshops, guest visits and trips around the island. Accommodations in the villages are provided by local hosts from the community.
