The Token Art Center opened in 2019 in Higashi-Mukojima, Sumida City, Tokyo. Along with a gallery, it also has a café and a library space in a renovated double-decker wooden building. We have been holding exhibitions of artists who create project-based works and installation works that are difficult to handle in commercial galleries. In addition, we are also interested in the formation of site-specific works outside the so-called ‘white cube’ and have implemented exhibitions at factories, former planetariums, parks, riversides, etc. in Sumida City. Beside exhibitions, we also hold workshops, talk shows, performance events, and publish books of artwork collections.
